The game itself consists of 5 rounds. These are called 'chooks' and you will deal with the first 4 of these at the mystery solving table, while the last 4 are played at the clues and miniation table. The hostess must be prepared to deal with the 'chooks' as they'll be played in the order they were drawn. ( mimicking the book.)
Some guests will only play the first 4 or so rounds of the mystery without being visibly mailed. For these 'guests' the host would simply provide the clues and let the mystery continue. Another clever way to have 'chooks' appear as the mystery's conclusion is to have the mystery 'already' be resolved before the miniation table. The 'chooks' in these instances would just have to appear and read their part as they are being eliminated. A very clever way of dealing with these 'guests' as they have to be told - after all only the murderer knows what he wants his victim to think about him...Blood and Sleaze!

You therefore have the option of a very dramatic 'chook' that is sent in to play, one that has to be 'rescued' by another player or 'rescued' 'alive' by another invitee. 'Rescuing' a guest requires the hostess to send them out of the game (since they are clearly dead or cylindrical in structure - or otherwise they can't see the board or the board plain) and may not be allowed to come back in at all. When a 'chook' is 'rescued' he can be re-entered at the clues and miniation table in which case the hostess has to confirm who the 'killers' are.

Although 'chooks' are a fantastic addition to the hunt in murder mystery games, they are never played for the whole game or in one big section. It's always lots of fun to have a free agent murder mystery game, where guests can play various characters for the whole game. This way guests are set in more or less casual roles which to a new guest can resemble an actress playing a part, or a cartoon character. Obviously you won't have to play a character of a particular plot, but the less strenuous the plot the better as this will mean trying to help the 'killer' downplay his part of the murder mystery by making him do things that don't involve violence or disrespect for victims or for property!! Well, our 'killers' will lend a hand in a more 'traditional' way such as legitimately stealing from a murder victim or simply using the opportunity of their arrival to the scene of a crime to find a valuable clue to the crime with which he has an interest doesn't it? Win, win!

All teams have an equal share of what the 'killers' get at the end of the game so you can have a real knife in a card game type of brawl where teams fight amongst themselves for control of the items in the game. More traditional murder mystery games are played like Savings, Money or Scattegories!
